I recently joined C8 Consulting as a PR Executive and one of things I love about joining a new company is meeting the team, knowing more about the client accounts within C8, and getting to understand more about the business.
Luckily for me, C8 hosts a quarterly business review (QBR) for all staff to attend. The format of the day generally incorporates celebrating success and business growth in the previous quarter, our focus for the coming quarter, followed by some social time and team building activities – the day is great fun to be part of and it gives everyone the opportunity to see the bigger picture.
Personally, I really benefitted from the insightful presentations from members of the team and thoroughly enjoyed the team building activity, that involved us running around London playing a cryptic game! The perfect day for a new joiner.
The QBR started with an update on the company’s first-quarter performance by C8’s deputy managing director, Michael Bartley. Michael discussed some of C8’s most significant achievements for this quarter, such as key PR event support for the Carbon Black Global Threat Report, which launched across eight territories. C8 also secured national coverage and briefings with key media, such as Sky news, Jazz FM and the Telegraph, for clients such as Carbon Black and A10 Networks. We talked about new clients that we have welcomed into the fold and I’m very excited to be working on creating edgy, compelling campaigns that kick-start conversations, and impact our clients’ bottom line.
We were then given an update on outbound marketing initiatives by Emma Potter, C8’s associate marketing consultant. It was great to have visibility on activity spanning awards, events, thought leadership content, and more, to celebrating the success of achieving our KPIs for Q1.
The presentations were wrapped up by Michael outlining C8’s commercial goals for the rest of the year.
Great clients to work with
We have some exciting new opportunities in the pipeline, and I am looking forward to working with the team on new client account wins, as well as continuing to maximise opportunities for C8. This year the company has already expanded with new additions to the team and further recruitment is planned – it’s great to be part of such an ambitious, growing business.
Team building games
After a delicious lunch at Smiths at Spitalfields, the C8 team gathered to start our team building activity – a scavenger hunt. There were three teams and we were in a race to solve clues sent to our phones, leading us to new places around London. This was a great activity to enhance our collaboration skills and the ability to think outside the box. I’m happy to report that my team won! We then had a cocktail in the sophisticated Le Méridien in Piccadilly Circus, before finishing the night in Tiger Tiger, with some making it home later than others.
My first QBR was thoroughly informative and a great opportunity to find out more about the C8 team. The day increased my knowledge of the company and made me aware of the goals set for not only the next quarter, but for the whole year.
