Innovation, collaboration and building your network

July 17, 2024By Destiny GillbeeInsights

Stepping into the bustling main entrance hall of the TOUGHBOOK Innovation Forum (TIF) in April was an exhilarating experience, greeted by familiar faces from the TOUGHBOOK team alongside their customers and partners.

The vibrant energy was undeniable as people engaged in lively talks and made new connections. Topics on the agenda ranged from navigating mobility complexities, showcasing the latest advancements in the UK’s Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) deployment, and innovative, rugged mobile computing solutions that enhance the productivity of mobile workers. They captivated the audience’s attention and sparked animated discussions.

Meeting the Needs of the Hyper-Mobile Workforce

I found the opening session from the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK team, which included Chris Turner, Head of Go-to-Market, and Nick Miller, EU Sales Strategy Manager, very interesting. They highlighted a new segment of mobile workers: the hyper-mobile workforce. Operating in sectors such as utilities, emergency services, and logistics, in unforgiving environments, necessitates a balanced solution that meets individual needs when choosing a mobile device.

As the variety of worker personas expands, the complexity of mobility rises. For example, connectivity challenges, device performance issues, opportunities with edge AI, and mounting security threats make managing mobile workforces more demanding than ever. The rapidly evolving landscape requires innovative solutions and agile strategies to stay ahead.

Innovation and partner collaboration

The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK team is not stopping there. They are constantly listening to customers’ challenges, needs and requirements. By maintaining an open line of communication with their users, they’re better placed to gather valuable feedback and insights that drive their development process. This proactive, collaborative approach ensures that they stay ahead of the curve in understanding the ever-evolving demands of various industries.

Whether the device is in the hands of emergency responders, military personnel, or field service engineers, Panasonic TOUGHBOOK devices are built to withstand the toughest environments while offering the flexibility and functionality required by modern professionals.

Innovation is at the heart of what Panasonic TOUGHBOOK does for its customers. The team is dedicated to cutting-edge technologies in their rugged devices. This commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction solidifies Panasonic’s position as a leader in rugged computing solutions, continually pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the industry.

Furthermore, Panasonic TOUGHBOOK collaborates with industry partners to co-create solutions that are tailored to specific professional environments, ensuring that their products meet and exceed expectations. At the forum, I had the pleasure of speaking with a representative from Cradlepoint, who explained how Panasonic TOUGHBOOK uses their router devices in vehicles, providing reliable connectivity for Panasonic TOUGHBOOK devices.

Attendees also heard from Stuart Murphy from the ARP, who spoke about deployment of the project across the UK, and how ambulances and rapid response vehicles are using TOUGHBOOK rugged devices as Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs). Since April 2023, 2,520 rugged devices have been installed in vehicles.
