C8 appointed to elevate Egress’ Share of Voice in the cybersecurity market

Leading cybersecurity company, Egress, is the only cloud email security platform to use an adaptive security architecture to continuously assess human risk and dynamically adjust policy controls, preparing customers to defend against advanced phishing attacks and outbound data breaches before they happen. Leveraging AI-powered behavioral-based detection and with seamless integration into Microsoft 365, Egress provides enhanced email protection, deep visibility into human risk, and instant time to value. C8 was appointed to grow Egress’ presence in both the UK and US ahead of many exciting research launches, company growth updates, and product announcements.

The Challenge

In a competitive and ever-growing cybersecurity landscape, Egress wanted to gain market share amongst competitors and raise the profile of the business and key spokespeople in the industry. Ultimately, the company wanted to be known and recognised as a thought leader in the crowded cybersecurity space.

Egress, a previous client of C8 from 2019-2020, re-engaged our PR services in January 2023 due to the strong relationship between the two teams, and our proven track record of delivering results.

The Campaign

As the UK and US PR agency for Egress, C8 has provided the media with a steady stream of newsjacking, feature tracking, research, and content, all designed to tell a cohesive and compelling story.

As part of this campaign, C8 was tasked with orchestrating a channel press tour for the VP of Strategic Partnerships at Egress to generate awareness around the company’s evolving sales model. This resulted in five briefings with key channel media including three written articles and two recorded interviews. These interviews featured in high-profile channel publications including SDC Channel Insights, Channel Futures, TechTarget, News in the Channel and IT Europa. This coverage proved influential in conversations between Egress channel executives, target resellers, and current partners. Ultimately, the programme achieved its target impact and objective, with Egress’ lining up a similar campaign for C8 to deliver in early 2024.

Alongside this activity, C8 launched three research projects including:

The Results

During 2023, C8 secured 245 pieces of organic coverage across the US, UK and Australia through feature tracking, thought leadership placements, product announcements and company news, plus newsjacking and research launches. Together, C8 and Egress worked on 77 briefings, features, and comment opportunities throughout the year. Altogether, this activity secured 1,912,701,983 organic views. Even H2 2023, compared to the start of the programme in H1 2024, generated a 66% increase in organic coverage and a 22% increase in the amount of feature, briefing and comment activity driven by C8.

“In 2023, C8 has driven amazing results for Egress including assisting in launching some of our most insightful and influential news to date. Reacting to, owning and driving the news cycle is extremely competitive with many vendors contending for headlines. In light of this, we continue to be impressed by the proactive and consistent nature of the C8 team and are excited to continue our partnership driving global brand recognition for Egress together.”
